PassNox — Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
PassNox ("the app") is an on-device app locker. The things you protect — your apps,
passwords, settings, locations, and any intruder photos — never leave your device.
PassNox has no account and no servers of its own.
The free version shows ads on the lock screen through Google AdMob, which uses the
internet and may use an advertising identifier to serve them (see Ads below). The
paid Pro version removes ads, after which the app makes no network connections at all.
What the app stores (only on your device)
- Your lock secret — your PIN, password, or pattern is stored only as a salted
cryptographic hash (PBKDF2). The original is never stored.
- Your settings — which apps you chose to lock, re-lock policy, recovery question,
emergency-password configuration, and feature toggles.
- Trusted places — coordinates and radius of places you explicitly add so chosen
apps open without a password while you're there.
- Intruder snapshots — if you enable intruder capture, a photo taken after repeated
failed unlock attempts is saved to the app's private storage.
None of the above ever leaves the device. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
Ads (free version)
The free version shows banner ads on the lock screen, served by Google AdMob
(Google's mobile ads service). Because of this:
- The app uses the internet only to request and display these ads.
- Google AdMob may collect and process device information and identifiers (such as your
advertising ID) to serve and measure ads. This is handled by Google under its own
policies — PassNox never receives your personal data from it.
- PassNox itself never sends your locked apps, passwords, settings, locations, or photos
anywhere; those always stay on your device.
- Buying Pro removes ads entirely. After that, PassNox makes no network connections.
For details, see Google's Privacy Policy and
how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Purchases
The one-time Pro upgrade is processed by Google Play Billing. PassNox does not see
or store your payment details; it only receives whether you own the upgrade.
Permissions and why they're used
PassNox requests only what its features need. Except for the ad permission below, each is
used locally and never to collect or transmit your data:
- Internet / network state — free version only, solely to fetch the lock-screen ads.
Unused once you have Pro.
- Accessibility service — to detect when a protected app comes to the foreground so the
lock screen can be shown. It reads only enough on-screen text to recognize the system
Settings screens it guards. It does not log, store, or send screen content.
- Query installed apps / usage access — to show you the list of apps you can lock and
to detect which app is in the foreground.
- Display over other apps — to show the lock screen over a protected app.
- Camera — only to take the optional intruder photo after failed unlock attempts; the
photo is saved locally and shown only to you.
- Location (including "all the time") — only for the optional Trusted Places feature,
which checks on-device whether you're inside a place you defined. Your location is never
recorded to a server or shared; it is used in memory to decide whether to skip the lock.
- Phone state — to detect SIM removal or swap, which can trigger a theft lockdown.
- Bluetooth — to detect a trusted device (e.g. watch/earbuds) disconnecting as part of
the optional "snatch" theft trigger.
- Device administrator — only for the optional anti-uninstall protection, so the app
can't be removed without your password.
- Biometrics — to let you unlock with fingerprint/face.
- Notifications, run at startup, foreground service, ignore battery optimizations — to
keep protection running reliably and survive reboots.
Data sharing
PassNox does not collect or share the data you create in the app (locks, settings, places,
photos) with anyone. The only third party involved is Google AdMob, and only in the
free version, to display ads — see Ads above. There is no analytics SDK.
Children
PassNox is a general-purpose security tool and is not directed at children.
Changes
